04:18:2002 Entry: "Unfinished"

Unfinished

There is a finch outside my computer room window that has built a nest inside the awning. I hate awnings, and one of the first things we did when we moved into the house was remove all the awnings on all the windows. We only kept two awnings, one on the front door and one on this 2nd floor back window (which in actuality is a door, but because of stupid city ordinances has been relegated to window-usage only because the former deck has been long-gone...long story). We decided to keep them for pure functionality, and that was to keep the rain away, I think. I've since thought that I want those two last awnings removed...I really hate them. But now with the bird there, we won't be able to remove that back awning. It sings all the time, and when I try to get close to see it, sometimes I scare it away and then I feel bad. Yesterday I saw her mate feed her a tidbit. It was really sweet. I cannot concentrate on doing anything with this bird singing, and the warm breezes blowing, and the flowers blooming. I am not even interetested in finishing this entry.

We have birds (mom dad and three babies) living in a wreath that's on our side porch door. One of the baby birds is a big bully, when its time for feeding, he (I swear to god) will stand on the other birds heads so he will get fed first. The papa bird feeds the momma bird a lot just like your birds do.

I hate to double post, but when I came home from school today, my mom told me that the baby birds had mysteriously left the nest. She said it looked like the mom and dad bird were looking for them. They probalby flew away. (at least I hope they flew away, last year when we had birds, a snake ate them)

I hope they're safe, Anita.

Mine don't have babies yet, I think they're still in the egg-warming stage. Had to close the window this morning (fortunately it cooled off last night after the storm) because Caligula kept obsessing over them and trying to jump up on the screen. Bad cat.

They never came back, we figured that they flew away.
