What Hollyhocks?

The image below is a picture of our hollyhocks in our back yard taken last weekend by Stan. This was the biggest year for them ever, having crowded out practically all our delphinium . Their height never ceased to amaze me; I swear they were about 10 feet tall at their highest. To think I was jealous of a neighbor's hollyhocks across the street at one point...piddly little six footers. All I really wish for now are some lemon yellow ones, some all white ones and some red ones, or as red as you can get. We have practically every other color that exists in hollyhockland: that dark marroon that is called "black", pale-pale pink-almost-white with a darker throat, peach, and lots of shades of pinks through magentas.

Of course you wouldn't know we had any hollyhocks today after the damn storms went through our area.. They appear virtually non-existant at this point.

In this photo they are about 10 feet tall, but just before the storm came a few of them had to be getting close to 12 ft tall.
